Leading the Employment Team at Karam, Alli focuses her practice on corporate immigration matters, representing employers and foreign workers navigating the complex process of gaining work authorization in the United States. She advises clients nationwide on the availability of new employment-based immigration opportunities (permanent and temporary), the immigration impact of corporate change and changes in the law, and regulatory compliance (I-9 and E-Verify policies and audits). Her work spans a wide range of industries, including IT, healthcare, engineering, biotechnology, retail and e-commerce, advertising, foodservice, manufacturing, agriculture, landscaping, and transportation, among others
Alli’s immigration expertise includes nonimmigrant visas, such as the L-1A/B for employees of multinational corporations, H-1B for specialty workers, TN for NAFTA professionals, and O-1 for individuals with extraordinary abilities, as well as the associated statuses for family members. In addition, Alli assists employers sponsoring their workers for permanent residence (green card) through the PERM Labor Certification Process, National Interest Waivers, and the EB-1C category for Multinational Managers and Executives. Alli also counsels clients on obtaining an EB-1A and EB-1B classification as individuals with extraordinary ability and outstanding researchers. She regularly advises employers on CPT/OPT/STEM OPT rules for student workers and how to best navigate the immigration system to retain up-and-coming talent.
Prior to joining Karam Law, Alli practiced in the area of employment-based immigration law with another firm in Minneapolis. She graduated magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, earning the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Constitutional Law, and serving as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the William Mitchell Law Raza Journal of Law and Diversity.
