Matt Woodward is a dedicated advocate for his clients in a wide range of complex immigration matters. Matt helps families stay together, reunite, and grow by providing immigration solutions based on family relationships. Matt also helps employers meet their need for qualified employees and highly skilled professionals by providing solutions for temporary and permanent immigration status based on employment. He also handles naturalization, asylum, and other forms of humanitarian relief.

Matt began his career in immigration law with Karam in 2004, as a receptionist and later a paralegal. Matt left Karam to serve as a rural health volunteer in El Salvador from 2006-2008. After completing his service, he returned to Karam and resumed his work as a paralegal. Matt’s experience in the Peace Corps informs his service-oriented approach to the practice of law. Matt is a fluent Spanish speaker, and he delights in every opportunity he has to learn about his client’s cultures, customs and traditions.

Matt obtained his JD from Hamline University in 2012. At Hamline, Matt sat on the board of the Hamline Journal of Law and Public Policy. His article, License to Violate the Constitution, discussing widespread constitutional violations and healthcare failures in immigration detention facilities, was published in the 2010-2011 edition. Matt received his Bachelor’s in English Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Matt is an active member of AILA, previously serving on various committees and as a Track Manager for a regional conference. Matt has provided pro bono services and mentorship to the Advocates for Human Rights, the Volunteer Lawyers Network, and the Immigrant Law Center.
