Elizabeth Holmes has been with Karam Law since 1997. In addition to several other facets of immigration and nationality law, Elizabeth practices primarily in the areas of asylum, family-based immigration, post-conviction relief, relief from deportation, litigation before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, and federal appellate work.
During her practice with Karam Law, Elizabeth was a key contributor responsible for obtaining passage of the first female genital mutilation (FGM) asylum case granted in the Minnesota USCIS District. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for the United Nations in the Center on Transnational Corporations, and was invited to participate in the United Nations Global Summit held in Brazil in 1992.
Elizabeth has also taught courses in International Business, International Relations, and Business Law at the Minnesota School of Business, Rasmussen College and the Brown Institute.
She is an active member of the Bar of Minnesota, and she received a juris doctorate degree from the Hamline University School of Law, and bachelor's degree from Moorhead State University. Elizabeth is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Circuits.
